If you’re going to do it, do it correctly

I'M thiRStY

Aaah, mobile phones. The ease with which they let us copywriters feed our grouchiness with sloppy language and questionable grammar.

There’s nothing like being able to take photos of said crimes and sharing them with the world to feed an obsession.

Take this little gem, for instance, found lurking on the front of a child’s t-shirt in clothing store Zara, here in Spain.

T-shirt with slogan 'I'm thirsty of your fear'.

I realise fashion has a bit of creative leeway in these matters, but if you’re going to use a slogan in a foreign language (which I’m all for), at least write it properly.

Here’s why ‘I’M thiRstY Of your FEAR’ irked me:

  • It just doesn’t make sense.
  • Wilfully inconsistent use of upper- and lower-case letters.
  • Looks like someone used Google Translate rather than paying for a professional.

Also, does anyone else think this is a really sinister t-shirt for an 8-year-old to be wearing?
