About me

I’ve worked in communications since 2003, both in agencies and in-house, and I’ve been freelancing as a web copywriter since 2008.

I’m currently based on the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca). From here, I work remotely and very successfully with my clients via email, Skype and old-fashioned telephone calls.

Experience

I managed and maintained engineering company Balfour Beatty’s corporate website for three years, including managing its redesign in 2007.

As part of the corporate communications team, I also worked on corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate identity, internal communications, investor relations and publications.

Combined with my prior PR experience in Edelman’s technology team, I’ve gained a good understanding of the role of an online presence within a wider communications strategy.

Education

I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2002 with a first class honours degree in mechanical engineering.

Membership

I’m a member of:

• the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
• 26, an association for writers, editors and language consultants.

Personal

I have lots of interests, ranging from sport and drawing to photography and languages. (I have an intermediate level of Spanish and am working on my German.)

Environmental issues are important to me. I’m involved in our local Friends of the Earth group (Amics de la Terra), both as a member and volunteer. I’m also in the early stages of a blog following my efforts to be ‘greener’. (Check out my del.icio.us bookmarks too.)
